There are a number of reasons that it is necessary to use a block when sailing, sometimes you may need to change the direction of a line, othertimes you may need to gain a mechanical advantage when lifting or moving an object.

A block is basically a single or multiple pulley, with one or more sheaves enclosed between cheeks or chocks, this is fixed to the end of a line, spar, or surface. A rope is reeved through the sheaves and possibly through one or more matching blocks a the far end to make up a tackle.

We carry a large range of blocks in differeing sizes with plain sheaves and ball bearing sheaves
